Liqueurs

Liqueurs are sweetened, flavored spirits that serve as versatile modifiers, adding sweetness, color, and a specific flavor accent — from the orange richness of triple sec to the coffee intensity of Kahlúa — to an enormous range of cocktails. They typically occupy a supporting role, providing the signature note that defines a cocktail's character, as in the Cointreau of a Margarita or the Chambord of a French Martini. With hundreds of styles spanning fruit, nut, floral, herbal, and cream expressions, liqueurs are among the most diverse and creative tools in a bartender's repertoire.
