Vieux Carré

IBA

Born in the late 1930s at the Carousel Bar in New Orleans' Hotel Monteleone, the Vieux Carré takes its name from the French Quarter and embodies the city's layered cultural heritage. Rye and Cognac form a transatlantic spirits partnership, bridged by sweet vermouth and the herbal complexity of Bénédictine, while a dual dose of Peychaud's and Angostura bitters gives it a signature spiced depth. It is one of the few cocktails to successfully balance so many assertive ingredients without any single one dominating.
