IBA
Created by Donn Beach in 1930s Hollywood, this tiki-era behemoth was reportedly served with a strict two-drink limit at his Don the Beachcomber restaurants. Three varieties of rum build a potent, layered backbone softened by the almond-spice sweetness of falernum, while grapefruit and lime juice cut through with sharp citrus brightness. The result is a drink of deceptive drinkability — tropical and complex, with a rum-fueled intensity that earns its morbid name.
