Dark 'n' Stormy

A Bermudian highball of dark rum floated over spicy ginger beer, named for the storm-cloud hue it takes on as the rum bleeds down through the fizz. Gosling Brothers of Bermuda claims the drink emerged just after World War I, when sailors found a splash of local Black Seal rum was exactly what the island's ginger beer was missing; the company has held a US trademark on the name since 1991. Built straight in the glass over ice and brightened with a squeeze of lime, it is the Moscow Mule's darker, rum-soaked cousin.
