Paper Plane

A modern equal-parts classic born in 2008 from Sam Ross at The Violet Hour, conceived as a riff on the Last Word with whiskey standing in for gin. One ounce each of bourbon, Amaro Nonino, Aperol, and lemon juice shake into a drink of remarkable balance — bittersweet and herbal against bright citrus, with bourbon's warmth underneath. The IBA enshrined it as a new-era cocktail in 2020. Named for the M.I.A. song, it is served up and unadorned.
