White Russian

IBA

Originating in the late 1960s and built on the earlier Black Russian, the White Russian adds cream to a foundation of vodka and coffee liqueur, producing a drink that sits somewhere between cocktail and dessert. The cream floats or folds into the Kahlúa's roasted sweetness, creating a rich, indulgent texture softened by vodka's neutrality. Its cultural footprint expanded enormously after 'The Big Lebowski' in 1998, which linked it to a very specific and unlikely archetype of leisure.
