Phil Ward's equal-parts Last Word riff replaces gin with rye whiskey and Chartreuse Verte with Green Chartreuse, landing the herbal-cherry-citrus formula on American grain instead of juniper. The result is spicier, drier, and arguably more complex than the original it nods to.
