Rum Runner

A Florida Keys tiki staple, the Rum Runner pairs a split rum base with banana and blackberry liqueurs, then balances them against pineapple, fresh lime, and a kiss of grenadine — sweet, fruit-forward, and built for the beach. It was created in the early 1970s at the Holiday Isle Tiki Bar in Islamorada by its manager, "Tiki John," reportedly as a way to clear out a glut of rum and liqueurs before a new delivery arrived. The name nods to the Prohibition-era smugglers who once ran Caribbean rum through the islands' waterways.
