Cameron's Kick

A peculiar but beautifully balanced whisky sour that splits its base evenly between blended Scotch and Irish whiskey, then rounds the edges with lemon juice and almond-rich orgeat. It first appeared in Harry MacElhone's 1922 "Harry of Ciro's ABC of Mixing Cocktails" and was carried into Harry Craddock's 1930 Savoy Cocktail Book, though the Cameron it honors has never been identified. The orgeat tames the whiskies' grain and smoke into something smooth, nutty, and unexpectedly elegant.
