The Whisky Mac pairs blended Scotch with green ginger wine in equal measure — a warming, faintly medicinal two-ingredient classic whose spiced sweetness rounds the whisky's edge without masking it. British colonial lore credits its invention around 1899 to Major-General Sir Hector "Fighting Mac" MacDonald, who is said to have blended the two during service in India; the legend is as durable as the drink itself. Long a cold-weather standby, it earned the nickname "The Golfers' Favourite" for warming players after a chilly round.
