Maiden's Prayer

A bright, equal-parts gin sour from the London hotel-bar era, the Maiden's Prayer balances dry gin against an equal measure of Cointreau, then lifts the whole with twin dashes of orange and lemon juice. It belongs to the same Prohibition-age family as the White Lady and Between the Sheets — the gin member, where the citrus pulls double duty. Documented across 1920s–1930s guides like the Buckstone Book of Cocktails and the Savoy, with no single bartender ever claiming it.
