Abbey

A pre-Prohibition gin aperitif of London dry gin, Lillet Blanc, and fresh orange juice, lifted by a single dash of Angostura. The result is bright and faintly bitter, the citrus tempered by the wine aperitif's quinine-tinged dryness. Best known as the alphabetically-first entry in Harry Craddock's 1930 Savoy Cocktail Book, the Abbey arrives without much documented history — its original Kina Lillet long since reformulated into today's Lillet Blanc.
