A pale, bone-dry aperitif from the golden age of the cocktail, the Coronation splits its base evenly between fino sherry and dry vermouth, then lifts the pairing with a whisper of maraschino and a brace of orange bitters. The result is delicate and saline, faintly almond-scented, more contemplative than spirituous. Recorded in Harry Craddock's 1930 Savoy Cocktail Book, it is fondly linked by legend to the 1902 coronation of King Edward VII.
