Sending a notice

Send takedown notices to the agent above. A valid notice must include everything 17 U.S.C. §512(c)(3) requires — identification of the copyrighted work and of the material you want removed, your contact details, a statement of good-faith belief, a statement that the notice is accurate made under penalty of perjury, and your physical or electronic signature.

The in-app "Report → Copyright" form is not a formal notice. It flags content for review and we act on it, but it deliberately does not collect the signature or the sworn statements the statute requires. Use the agent address for anything you intend as a §512 notice.

Repeat infringers

We terminate the accounts of repeat infringers in appropriate circumstances, as §512(i) requires. Copyright reports that we action are recorded against the account that posted the material, and that record — not the raw number of complaints received — is what a termination decision is based on. Suspension is reversible if a removal turns out to have been mistaken.

Misrepresentation

Under §512(f), knowingly misrepresenting that material is infringing — or that it was removed by mistake — can make you liable for damages, including costs and attorneys' fees. Please be sure of your rights before sending a notice.

A note on recipes

Cocktail recipes — lists of ingredients and their proportions — are generally not copyrightable. Descriptive prose, tasting notes, and editorial commentary can be. Riffed's canonical drink descriptions are written for this app; where a source informed an entry, it is cited on that drink's page. See our Disclaimer for how third-party content is handled.
